From a niche to a new normal, with a good life for all in climate-neutral cities
Viable Cities is, together with Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative and partners, exploring collaboration between Sweden, the European Union, and the United States, towards climate-neutral and smart cities globally.
One of the events within this effort took place at Nasdaq in San Francisco in March 2024, during the Bifrost Summit.
The event was recorded and streamed during the Sweden Innovation Days on March 20th and is now available to view on YouTube. In this event, you can listen to US and Swedish perspectives on mission oriented policy innovation to arrive in climate neutral cities by 2030.
Marcus Rönngren Liu, Senior Project Manager at Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative, introduces the event, Andreas Netz, Head of Innovation Portfolio at Vinnova, talks about system innovation, Linda Andrén, Executive Director at Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative, shares a glimpse of initiatives what a good life for all in climate-neutral cities, and Jonas Birgersson, gives a keynote speech on energy communities from the perspective of Lund municipality in Sweden. Additionally, Priscilla Negreiros, Lead for the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA), is interviewed by Olle Dierks, Head of Large-scale Investments at Viable Cities.
Additionally, different stakeholder groups were present and shared insights on mission oriented collaboration for climate neutral cities, and you will virtually take part in a panel presented during the event.
Following the event, a lot of things were discussed with essential stakeholders based in the US, including how climate-smart innovation in cities can be funded, how we can mobilise for climate action in cities and how we can accelerate learning between pioneering cities. The ambition is to team up with organizations that have an important role for Climate-Neutral Cities globally.
Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative aims to strengthen the bilateral partnership between Sweden and the United States in research and development, innovation, trade, and investment to accelerate green transition, and Viable Cities collaborates with the Sweden-US Green Transition Initiative to drive knowledge exchange between climate-neutral cities in Sweden and the US.
