The mobilization around the Mission on Climate Neutral Cities is a movement across Europe, and this May Norway's first Mission Forum was held in connection with the Nordic Edge Expo in Stavanger. Viable Cities' Lars Johansson was there and participated in discussions and workshops.
This week, Viable Cities' Lars Johansson has participated in talks and workshops in connection with the Nordic Edge Expo in Stavanger. On May 6, Norway's first Mission Forum was held with DOGA, NetZeroCities, Norwegian cities that have joined the EU Cities Mission and representatives from several Norwegian ministries. Lars Johansson, Coordinator for Climate Neutral Cities 2030 at Viable Cities, shared the experiences and lessons learned when Swedish cities and government agencies mobilized around the mission since 2019.
At the Nordic Edge Expo on 7 May, one focus was on how cities across Europe are mobilizing and driving the transition of the entire continent. In a conversation with Arhus, Stavanger and Grönningen, Viable Cities participated with perspectives on Multilevel Governance and co-benefits in the transition, exemplified by ROI calculations on the climate transition from Umeå and the collaboration that takes place in Sweden between the local and national level through Climate Contract 2030.
It's great that Sweden is a leader and inspirer of the mobilization around the mission of climate neutral cities. We are making a real difference and the work of 23 Swedish cities is important for Europe and the world.
- Lars Johansson, Coordinator for Climate Neutral Cities 2030
