Impact Innovation

Impact Innovation is a strategic and long-term collaboration between the Swedish Energy Agency, Formas and Vinnova, where we together solve global societal challenges and accelerate the transition to a sustainable society by building on previous collaboration on strategic innovation programs.

Energy Authority

The Swedish Energy Agency's mission is to combine ecological sustainability, competitiveness and security of supply in energy systems that are sustainable and cost-effective with a low impact on health, environment and climate. Research on future energy systems and technologies can be supported by us.

Vinnova

Vinnova is Sweden's innovation agency, tasked with strengthening Sweden's innovation capacity and contributing to sustainable growth. They work to ensure that Sweden is an innovative force in a sustainable world. Vinnova's support enables companies and organizations to experiment and test new ideas. Every year, Vinnova invests around SEK 3.5 billion in research and innovation. 

Formas

Formas is a government research council for sustainable development. It funds research and innovation, develops strategies, conducts analyses and evaluations, and its areas of activity are the environment, agricultural industries and spatial planning. Formas conducts research compilations that aim to help Sweden achieve its environmental goals.

Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth

Tillväxtverket works to strengthen competitiveness, innovation, adaptability and sustainable development throughout the country. They implement parts of the European cohesion policy. Tillväxtverket works in three policy areas - regional development, rural areas and business and their funding strengthens business, municipalities and regions.

Council for Sustainable Cities

The Council for Sustainable Cities is a collaboration between authorities that aims to strengthen municipalities' ability to develop vibrant and sustainable cities and communities. The Council will, among other things, create the conditions for cooperation between authorities that contribute to the achievement of Goal 11 Sustainable cities and communities in Agenda 2030, develop and manage the Hållbarstad.se website as a platform for up-to-date information on knowledge support and funding opportunities for the development of sustainable cities and communities, and support the municipalities affected by major industrial establishments and industrial expansions in Norrbotten and Västerbotten counties with regard to sustainable spatial planning and designed living environments.

NetZeroCities third call for Twin Cities

Cities across the EU, and countries associated with Horizon Europe, are invited to apply to join the EU Cities Mission program for exchange and accelerate the climate transition. The call is open to cities that are not part of the EU Cities Mission or Twinning and Pilot Cities programs. Selected cities will have the opportunity to partner with pilot cities from cohorts two and three, to facilitate sharing and knowledge exchange during the transition to climate neutrality.

DUT Call 2024

DUT Call 2024 is the third call of the Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) Partnership. The aim of the call is to support transnational research and/or innovation projects that address urban challenges to help cities in their transition to a more sustainable society. In the context of the call, all stakeholders can sign up to the matchmaking platform to build collaborations, join consortia, and discuss and refine ideas with potential partners.

Enabling City Transformation

NetZeroCities' Enabling City Transformation call invites Mission Cities to propose innovative actions to address systemic challenges they face in climate transformation. The program, which runs for eighteen months, aims to foster large-scale, city-wide transformation, building on and moving beyond the Pilot Cities program, and creating practical, replicable solutions that support sustainable urban development and climate neutrality in European cities

By funding feasibility studies, Metals & Minerals wants to take stock of ideas in some of the program's social action areas and at the same time contribute to the development of a decision-making basis for future research and development projects. The ideas that form the basis of the feasibility studies are expected to have the potential to engage a wide range of stakeholders in new or expanded partnerships.

Net Zero Industry wants to create conditions for the efficient use of material resources by funding innovation projects with high news value. The transition to a resource-efficient, circular and long-term sustainable use of resources requires both improvements to existing solutions and the development of innovative solutions. It also requires a systems perspective and consideration of the entire life cycle.

Collaboration for Sustainable Water

The call is part of the Water Wise Societies programme and is aimed at actors from different sectors, industries and organizations that want to collaborate to achieve a systemic change for sustainable water management - for people, society, business and the environment. The call finances feasibility studies and will result in proposals for continuation projects for future initiatives within the programme.

By funding feasibility studies, Metals & Minerals wants to take stock of ideas within the program's technical priority areas and at the same time contribute to the production of decision-making data for future research and development. The call constitutes an initial investment in Metals & Minerals and is open to applications for feasibility studies that address one or more of the program's technical priority areas.

Communities for Climate (C4C)

Communities for Climate (C4C), a European Commission initiative, aims to support 50 community-led projects in 11 EU countries, accompanying them in the realization of new and innovative ideas for citizen engagement to address climate and sustainability issues. They will receive tailored support to develop and become replicable models for other local communities willing to engage in climate projects across the EU.

Regulation and cutting-edge technology

Well-functioning regulations and governance are important prerequisites for the efficient and safe development of breakthrough technologies. At the same time, regulation sometimes develops too slowly to protect society and individuals from negative side effects. In this Vinnova call, actors can apply for funding to explore and experiment with regulation and other policy instruments in selected technology areas: synthetic biology, quantum technology, immersive technology, blockchain and AI.

NetZeroCities second call for the Twin Cities

As of 8 April, cities across the EU and countries associated with Horizon Europe are invited to apply to join the EU Cities Mission's exchange and accelerate climate change program. Climate-neutral and socially sustainable municipalities in 2024

Formas is looking for projects that take on a challenge that aims to integrate work on climate neutrality and social sustainability to accelerate the transition in a municipality or region. The call is relevant for actors working towards the mission of climate-neutral and sustainable cities by 2030, as in Viable Cities. Initiatives funded under the call can become part of the portfolio for the transition in a city.

Viable Cities System Demonstrator

In the System Demonstrators in Practice call, the system demonstrator moves from the planning phase to establishment and implementation. The larger budget included in this phase makes it possible to gather stakeholders on a broad front and implement the measures identified to achieve the system demonstrator's mission. Two projects were granted funding in the planning phase, SnabbSam in Stockholm and CoAction in Lund, and only they can apply for and be granted funding in this call.

We must act together quickly and forcefully to meet the climate challenge. Call #14: Climate-neutral cities 2030 3.0 will help to boost climate and sustainability work in cities with high ambitions for the transition. The initiative opens up for more cities to take the lead in accelerating the local transition journey and scaling up the transition for greater impact in a shorter time frame, while helping to manage multiple crises.

Do you want to contribute to more sustainable resource use and a more circular economy? Then it is possible to apply for support for research and innovation projects. The call is aimed at research and innovation projects that intend to develop economically viable solutions that contribute to more sustainable resource use and a more circular economy. The call is aimed at research and innovation projects and demonstration projects. The minimum support you can apply for is SEK 1 million and the maximum support is SEK 8 million.

Promote research and innovation processes related to the circular economy in the Stockholm region.

The key to a well-functioning circular economy, where the amount of waste is reduced and the use of recycled materials and resources increases, is innovation along the entire value chain as well as successful collaboration opportunities to enable research and innovation. It is now possible for actors in the Stockholm region to apply for funding for actions that promote increased circularity.

The call will contribute to the sustainable development of our built environment, through projects in which a central part is to use digitalisation as a tool for increased sustainability in the field of spatial planning, both in terms of the processes and their results and the built environment. Applications can address processes, forms of collaboration, business models and technology. The purpose of the call is to increase the pace of digital transformation, through activities that affect actors throughout the value chain from planning to long-term management of the built environment.

Motion Blur of People in the City

Funding of preparatory projects and system demonstrators that accelerate the transition to fossil-free, safe, equitable and efficient road transport. The solutions should play a crucial role in accelerating the pace of the transition to sustainable road transport. The projects should have a high level of technical maturity and the focus should be on system innovation and how the project is received by users to contribute to societal benefits. ´

Call #10 Solutions for sustainable mobility in European-Chinese cooperation program

Do you want to contribute to the development of sustainable urban mobility? Now you can apply for support for Swedish participation in the call for proposals within the European-Chinese cooperation program ERA-Net Cofund Urban Accessibility and Connectivity Sino-European. The Swedish Energy Agency and Vinnova with Viable Cities and Drive Sweden together announce about SEK 9 million to Swedish actors.

Call #9 Energy-positive neighborhoods for climate-neutral cities

Help create energy-positive districts and contribute to climate-neutral cities. You can now apply for support in a call within the European cooperation PED - Positive Energy Districts and Neighbourhoods for Sustainable Urban Development. The budget for the call is approximately SEK 15 million for actors active in Sweden who can contribute to European innovation and demonstration projects in the areas of the call.

Call #8 Climate Neutral Cities 2030 2.0

We are now welcoming new cities to our climate neutral and sustainable cities initiative. We are looking for Swedish municipalities that together with local partners, and us, want to work for the mission Climate Neutral Cities 2030 with a good life for all within the boundaries of the planet. Our vision is that through our joint work we inspire and lead the way in the climate transition both in Europe and globally.

Call #5 Energy Positive Neighborhoods

Do you want to help create energy-positive districts and thus climate-neutral cities? You can now apply for support in a pilot call within the European collaboration Positive Energy Districts (PED). The budget for the call is approximately SEK 6 million for actors operating in Sweden who can contribute to European innovation and demonstration projects in the areas of the call.

Call #3 Climate Neutral Cities 2030

Do you want to help strengthen the innovation capacity of Swedish cities? In order for them to become innovative, sustainable and climate neutral cities in a powerful way, they need innovation management support. The call will result in a grant project where several actors together develop and provide innovation management services to 15 existing municipal projects.
