10 Swedish cities on the ground in Lithuania
The Cities Mission 2025 conference brought together over 900 participants (digital and physical) from across Europe in Vilnius on May 6-8, with the theme "Harnessing City Successes: Advancing Climate Action for 2030".
Ten Swedish cities, all part of Viable Cities, participated - including the seven Swedish EU mission cities: Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Gävle, Helsingborg, Lund and Umeå, together with Eskilstuna, Lomma and Uppsala.
Since 2022, 112 European cities have joined the Cities Mission, 100 from all EU countries and 12 from outside the EU, to become climate neutral by 2030 and inspire other cities to follow suit.
The conference confirmed that the pace is accelerating - more and more cities are mobilizing the power of local climate leadership to reach climate neutrality by 2030. Many face the same challenges - success lies in collaboration, bold decisions and learning by doing, and not least in the collective transition power that exists in the 112 cities.
The Cities Mission conference also showed that Europe's cities not only share goals - but also a strong willingness to learn from each other and act together.
