Tomelilla hooks arms with Kristianstad.
Tomelilla has recently adopted an ambitious climate program and is working on developing a roadmap linked to the program. Tomelilla's climate program is well aligned with the goals of Climate Neutral Kristianstad 2030. The municipalities already collaborate in some projects, such as Scope 3, which develops the work on environmental commuting analysis and requirements in procurement, or Active School Travel, which aims to reduce the amount of car travel to and from schools. By collaborating with Kristianstad as a pioneer city, both municipalities can utilize the synergies in their respective work, generate new knowledge about local needs and highlight what has been done, needs to be done and will be needed in the future.
Tomelilla is also part of the Impact Innovation program SustainGov, which focuses, among other things, on the regulatory problems that food producers face in their everyday lives. Tomelilla municipality also works actively with procurement and purchasing of food as a tool to benefit local producers.
In the city's latest update, they talk about the work, the transition arena, the project portfolio and much more.

Climate City Contract 2030 is an effort to manage the climate transition that we need to implement in a short time to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees. It is an agreement between municipalities, government agencies and Viable Cities, in which all parties undertake to make a concrete contribution to accelerating the climate transition. The letter of intent is a preparation for signing the contract next year.
To achieve deep change, we need to move from fragmented projects to an ecosystem of efforts that all pull in the same direction. Cities are doing this together with Viable Cities, funders government agencies and other partners, in different constellations and with different objectives. It is about moving beyond dealing with symptoms and instead focusing on underlying problems in our social structure. Here you will find the initiatives and studies within the city that have been granted funding under Viable Cities.
