To achieve this mission, we need to work together. Here we try to gather events that can be interesting for all of us who work for climate-neutral cities in one way or another.
Climate change investments can create both business opportunities and a more sustainable city. Research shows that climate investments can generate significant benefits, both direct economic benefits and added benefits such as jobs, cleaner air and better health. Within the work with roadmaps as part of Climate City Contract 2030, the cities in the Climate Neutral Cities 2030 initiative work with climate investments and climate investment plans. During this Climate Breakfast, we dive into what it means to make climate investments and how climate investment plans take shape.
Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) play a crucial role in the journey towards a carbon neutral future and the urban energy transition. However, the role of PEDs in the climate-neutral city has not been clearly defined yet and there are still ambiguities and the exact framework of the PED concept. In this PED AGORA, we invite the PED community to reflect on the essence of an updated PED framework and define our journey towards climate neutral cities. Registration closes on April 19, 2024. The survey is open until April 31.
SKNT is Sweden's arena for business developers, which every year organizes a conference that alternates between different municipalities and deals with current topics. During this year's edition, you will have the chance to drill deeper into how a municipality can support companies to strengthen their competitiveness with the EU's increased sustainability requirements, exchange experiences with others, and identify success factors and challenges. Viable Cities Charlotte Brynielsson and Lena Holmberg participate, together with Sweden's municipalities and regions and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, as part of Climate Competitiveness. Last day to register is April 29.
In Sweden, several researchers have worked closely together with cities and national innovation actors to support them in steering sustainability transitions by contributing to learning from practice, increased reflexivity and helping to identify evidence about system change. This role got the name of 'följeforskare' (literal translation from Swedish is 'following' or 'companion' researcher). Together we will explore what makes "följeforskning" special in terms of benefits and challenges, why it is especially relevant in accelerating the transition to climate neutral cities, and what role it can play for both cities and national support platforms.
Thousands of CityChangers from around the world share how they create transformation and what mistakes are made and what accelerates change and successfully shapes the future of our cities.
