The 2030 cities have high climate ambitions, but are in many ways dependent on neighboring municipalities and the regional level to achieve their climate goals. Structures that affect the climate often span municipal boundaries. Prudent public actors need to strengthen their ability to act strategically, in the long term and in collaboration to create and use a common scope for action.
public organisations need to get better at scaling and deploying smart solutions. Innovation Week is an initiative to help with that. All actors who contribute to public organisations being able to meet the challenges of the future are welcome to organize and participate in activities during the week. Innovation Week is an initiative of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, Vinnova and the Swedish Agency for Public Procurement, and Viable Cities is a partner.
The issues of climate, environment and sustainability are more important than ever and municipalities have a central role to play in transforming society. But how should this be done? How can we link different functions and sectors to find new solutions to society's sustainability challenges?
Each year, Viable Cities holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for all member organizations to discuss the programme's activities. The AGM decides on Viable Cities' strategy within the framework of the Swedish Energy Agency's program decisions. At the AGM, each member organization is represented by one person on the voting list, but more people from the same organization can participate without voting rights. 2024 is the program's seventh AGM.
Viable Cities and the European Commission's representation in Sweden are pleased to invite you to our seventh European Viable Cities Day on December 6, 2024 - a bridge between the Swedish and European efforts towards the mission of climate neutral and sustainable cities by 2030.
