Climate change investments can create both business opportunities and a more sustainable city. Research shows that climate investments can generate significant benefits, both direct economic benefits and added benefits such as jobs, cleaner air and better health. Within the work on roadmaps as part of Climate City Contract 2030, the cities in the Climate Neutral Cities 2030 initiative are working on climate investments and climate investment plans.
During this Climate Breakfast, we dive into what it means to make climate investments and how climate investment plans take shape. What are cities working on and how? Why have they chosen this approach? What have they learned so far? What challenges have been encountered and what has proved easy? What next steps do they see in their work now?
Participants include:
- Fedra Vanhuyse, Finance and Procurement Strategist at Viable Cities and SEI
- Henrik Johansson, environmental strategist, economist and process manager for Climate Neutral Växjö 2030
- Linnéa Skoogh, process manager for Climate Neutral Kristianstad 2030
During the breakfast, the speakers talk about the Viable Cities Finance Dashboard.
