Climate knowledge for municipal officials and politicians was the theme of a recent workshop organized by Viable Cities together with Climate Municipalities, WWF and Global Challenge. The popular theme brought together over 60 participants from all 23 cities in the Climate Neutral Cities 2030 program. The origin of the workshop was, among other things, the realization that with the election comes many new politicians who need to get a good foundation in climate change as both a challenge and an opportunity. There is also a great need for simple material to use in the work with companies, associations, citizens and other public actors.
Climate Municipalities and WWF are members of Viable Cities and we asked them what they thought of the workshop.

"Great initiative from Viable Cities. I think both the perspective/focus and content of our respective materials seem to complement each other well. We hope that "The 13 tasks of climate municipalities" can be helpful for people who are pushing for change locally, both as a whole with background texts, films and examples, but also as a resource to pick text snippets from for their own communication. And - I look forward to testing WWF's discussion questions in a future meeting!" Filippa Borgström, Head of Operations, Climate Municipalities

"I am pleased to see such great interest in learning and dialog about climate and sustainable development. WWF's "Together we change" can be used flexibly in the municipality's own activities such as in education, meetings and in communication with employees, citizens and community stakeholders. We are happy to receive feedback on how we can further develop the material to suit your needs! Sabina Andrén, Program Coordinator WWF Sustainable Cities
The Global Challenge, which has collaborated in various ways with Viable Cities, was also enthusiastic:
"It's great to see so much interest in public education on climate change among the member municipalities! I hope, and believe, that the workshop will lead to many new collaborations and ripple effects." Anna Linell, Program Manager Climate and Resources.
The materials presented have been collected here together with, among others, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation's "Change your municipality!".
