Is my microphone on?

The performance Is my microphone on? is inspired by the speech given by climate activist Greta Thunberg on April 23, 2019. The performance is written for an adult audience and is performed by youth ensembles around Sweden. It depicts young people's concerns, fears and frustrations, and connects to how we now need to speed up the transition to climate-neutral cities by 2030.

During the Transition Lab Forum 11 in Växjö, organized together with Kalmar and Växjö, we had the opportunity and honour to see a performance about the climate crisis, performed by young people, called Is my microphone on?

The show is written by playwright Jordan Tannahill and is inspired by the speech given by climate activist Greta Thunberg to the British House of Commons on April 23, 2019. The show is written for an adult audience and is performed by theater ensembles of over 100 young people in several cities around Sweden. It depicts young people's concerns, fears and frustrations, and connects to how we now need to accelerate the transition to climate-neutral cities by 2030.

We want to say a big thank you to the Växjö Youth Ensemble who performed the show for us during an evening activity at Transition Lab Forum 11. None of us left untouched. We hear you - your microphone is on. We also want to encourage everyone who has the opportunity to take the chance and see the performance of an ensemble near you, and to encourage others to see it. It is a wonderfully powerful and compelling performance - with one of the most important messages of our time!
