In 2023, three calls will be opened under Horizon Europe in the framework of the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission-The aim is to support European cities in their journey towards climate neutrality and is part of the European Green Deal, whichaims to make the entire Union climate neutral by 2050.
The three calls cover a wide range of areas, such as zero emission mobility, climate positive energy districts, urban greenery and ecosystem services, and linking Ukrainian cities to the EU Cities Mission:
1. A joint call for proposals between Mission 100 Climate-neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 and the Mission Adaptation to climate transition which includes areas such as green ecosystem services in the urban environment, resilience and climate neutrality.
Open between January 10, 2023 and April 27, 2023.
Total indicative budget: €40 million.
2. call focusing on actions to support the implementation of the Climate-neutral and Smart Cities Mission and comprising two parts:
Co-designed smart systems and services for user-centred shared zero-emissions mobility in urban areas (indicative budget: €50 million).
Positive clean energy district (PED) digital twins (indicative budget: €20 million)
Open between January 10, 2023 and April 27, 2023.
Total indicative budget: €70 million.
3. call to associate Ukrainian cities with the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission
Open from April 4, 2023 to September 6, 2023.
Total indicative budget: EUR 5 million.
