Carl Mossfeldt, who heads Gothenburg's climate transition function, used Karin Boye's poem Ja visst gör det ont in his opening speech at Lindholmen Open Day to illustrate the situation in which Gothenburg and many other cities find themselves when it comes to daring to let go of the old. In his speech he also emphasized the importance of seeing the climate transition in a geopolitical perspective, but also the importance of understanding the consequences of changes in costs for different types of energy."We have now in a way turned a very very important corner which means that the sustainability transition is no longer about activism only. It is now primarily now driven by existential super power struggles. The underlying reason for this is that because of both general technological trends but also more specifically regulatory pressures, we have seen a breakthrough in the underlying technological base of our society."
