The magazine Aktuell Hållbarhet has published the list of the country's most powerful sustainability leaders. Viable Cities program manager Olga Kordas is ranked 34th.
- "It's great to be on the list," says Olga Kordas. "I am honored and see it as the whole Viable Cities team being nominated, we do this work together.
Every year since 2009, Aktuell Nachhaltigkeit has produced a list of people who are considered to be driving social development in a sustainable direction. The magazine's readers nominate people and a jury compiles the nominees into a list that is then prioritized. The jury includes Ylva Bergman, Aktuell Hållbarhet's editor-in-chief; Elise Grosse, head of sustainability at Sweco Architects; and Marcus Jahnke, director of Urban Futures - Centre for Sustainable Urban Development.
Greta Thunberg tops the list and Viable Cities program manager Olga Kordas is in 34th place with the following motivation: "Important driving force and enabler of the program, which by being a catalyst for new forms of collaboration between cities, business, academia, research institutes and civil society drives the mission 'climate-neutral cities 2030 with a good life for all within the limits of the planet'. Olga Kordas is also a lecturer in sustainable urban development at KTH."
Viable Cities vice Chairman Anders Wijkman, who is also Chairman in the EU climate innovation program Climate-Kic, is ranked 16th on the list. "With many years of experience and international contacts, Anders Wijkman has great influence in the sustainability debate. He influences both Swedish environmental policy and decisions in Europe through his work in the Club of Rome. Recently, he has had time to criticize the election of a new Minister for the Environment and Climate and to leave the newly launched Climate Alliance."
Rebecka Persson, member of the board of Viable Cities and Director of Environment in the City of Malmö, is ranked 67th. "Rebecka Persson is a trained lawyer and sits on the board of Viable Cities. She is one of the initiators of Klimatomställning Malmö, the City of Malmö's effort to mobilize actors to accelerate climate work."
