How do companies and municipalities work together to both support business and contribute to the climate transition? A new report presents different types of good examples of climate competitiveness from across Sweden.
In 2024, Viable Cities explored how companies and municipalities work together to both support business and contribute to the climate transition. Good examples were collected from all over Sweden and the results have been presented at several workshops. They are now available in the report "Climate competitiveness through collaboration between municipalities and businesses". The work was carried out together with the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and the Climate Municipalities.
- The survey commissioned by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth showed that companies are highly committed to the climate issue. It was therefore good to see so many examples of how cities can contribute to meeting companies' interests and needs," says Tobias Lundberg at the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.
The more than 100 examples of collaboration between municipalities and businesses are diverse in nature. Some focus on major emission areas such as energy, construction and transport. Others focus on innovation and are channeled through collaboration with incubators and science parks. There are also many initiatives in business development, procurement, development, digitalization and skills supply.

- Better resource use, lower costs and less climate impact are an unbeatable combination.
The work on the examples has also resulted in a toolbox where cities can find inspiration for how they can work even more systematically to support both the business community and the municipality's climate transition.
