Climate Breakfast 40: Resilient and sustainable food systems for climate-neutral cities in 2030

In Sweden and Europe, many actors are mobilizing for climate-neutral cities by 2030 and climate-adapted cities. Part of climate adaptation involves building resilience to climate change through knowledge of climate risks, developing guidelines for prevention, and testing and disseminating innovative solutions. Resilient and sustainable food systems are an important part of the work towards climate-neutral and climate-adapted cities and communities.

Around 7% of the Earth's surface is arable. The farmed landscape is also of great value for biodiversity and overall food production, which in turn contributes to a resilient and sustainable society. To bring about the necessary changes, all actors in the chain need to work together: producers, distributors, consumers and policy makers.

There are many questions in this area: How can we move from research to transition? How do we collaborate to build knowledge and understanding of the system together, and create a common vision? And how can cities contribute to food production?

The Climate Breakfast will feature:

  • Fia Gulliksson, founder of Food In Action
  • Jenny Sjöblom, Program Manager at Vinnova
  • Gunilla Andersson, Senior Project Manager at the City of Malmö
  • Henny Farebo, Sustainability Strategist at Umeå Municipality
