Investments made, and not initiated to reduce CO2 emissions, may account for a large share of future emissions. This study takes a closer look at how climate benefit calculations can contribute to better decision-making.
An important purpose of developing climate investment plans is to look at the total investment needs to achieve climate targets in order to understand the capital requirements of the transition. This feasibility study will further develop the work by exploring future investments that are not initiated to reduce carbon emissions. These investments can account for a large share of future emissions, e.g. in infrastructure and buildings.
The initiative will, based on Gävle, identify drivers and barriers for property owners (mainly small and medium-sized) to strengthen and preserve ecosystem services.
Gävle municipality has an environmental strategy program with the goal of becoming climate neutral by 2035, including consumption-based emissions, and already has a comprehensive climate roadmap. In addition, Gävle will build one of Europe's most sustainable districts, Näringen. Gävle is linking arms with Sandviken.
