Electrically powered multimodal transport systems to strengthen urban accessibility and connectivity

e-MATS aims to promote next generation multimodal transport systems through electrification, connectivity and sharing. It aims to facilitate the development of multimodal transport systems that link electric public transport and shared micro-mobility for sustainable, more efficient and equitable mobility services, improving urban accessibility and resilience.

The initiative will address critical and uncertain aspects of current practice and engage key stakeholders at multiple levels in co-creation taking into account different user needs and behavioral responses. Innovation areas include infrastructure planning at the strategic level, system optimization, network design and management at the tactical level, and vehicle/platoon control and battery management at the operational level, taking into account different user needs and behavioral responses.

Solutions will be demonstrated in real applications through public government agencies and industry partners. These contribute to promoting accessibility and connectivity in cities, climate action in the transport sector and the subjective well-being of citizens in the long term.
