The Demonstration for Viable Cities call welcomes proposals based on a holistic perspective on the city that uses digitalization and citizen engagement to accelerate the transition to a resource-efficient and fossil-free society.
The call is aimed at actors who have the ability and interest in cross-border cooperation to jointly contribute to achieving the objectives of the Viable Cities strategic innovation program. Applicants can be legal entities, such as companies, research institutes, universities, colleges, public actors, social enterprises and industry associations, or non-legal entities, such as citizens' initiatives. At least three independent actors from at least two of the stakeholder groups.
The call is aimed at projects focusing on the demonstration of innovative solutions such as:
The call is intended for project applications at the intersection of the Viable Cities focus areas and thematic areas. Projects should address at least two of the following four focus areas:

The call is carried out jointly by Vinnova, the Swedish Energy Agency and Formas. It is the Swedish Energy Agency that receives the applications and decides, preliminarily in February 2019, which projects are granted.
On June 18, an information meeting was held in Stockholm, which was broadcast live online and filmed .
For consortia preparing an application, the Program Office offered half-hour online consultation sessions on September 3 and 10.
