The program ran from August 2017 to December 2020 and aims to put Sweden on the map as a country that actively and critically works with the sharing economy in cities. The objectives of the program are to:
Through test beds in four cities, sharing services and digital solutions/platforms will be developed. The opportunities and risks of the sharing economy will be tested and evaluated. The test beds are complemented by a national node for coordination, national learning and international exchange. The program is implemented in collaboration between business, public organisations, universities and institutes. The aim is to strengthen Sweden's work for the global sustainability goals, and to strengthen Sweden's competitiveness by developing new services and new companies for the domestic and export markets.
The testbeds will develop sharing services related mainly to 1) sharing of spaces (premises, housing, green structure, shared public spaces, etc.), and 2) sharing of goods and services (tools, clothes, toys, crafts, etc.). Transport and mobility are also included to some extent. Sharing services should contribute to reducing energy and climate impact and sustainable development, but also to promoting socially sustainable development in the city. The sharing services must be innovative and contribute to a wide range of different types of services within the program. The program is part of Viable Cities and is funded by Vinnova.
