Citizens' Dialogue for Sustainable Mobility

The preliminary study will carry out and develop citizen dialogues linked to the transition and sustainable passenger transport in the municipality of Östersund. The work on climate change can lead to conflicts between those who govern and those who need to make changes. A common positive vision of the society of the future, combined with reality-based solutions, is needed to give power and acceleration to the transition we are facing. The strength-based development/appreciative inquiry dialogue method focuses on society's strengths and thus constitutes a possible tool for highlighting constructive ways forward instead of conflicts.

The preliminary study will focus on three different areas, sparsely populated areas, larger urban areas and cities, in order to address demographics, sparsity, functional capacity and socio-economic conditions as much as possible. A major focus of the project is the behavioral change created when people discuss and think about our near future together. The dialogue method includes that the participants take the discussion home to their contexts and thus create ripples on the water.
The dialogue proposals will be processed by the municipality and then, to varying degrees, implemented as activities.

The initiative is part of the Viable Cities call #13.
