Climate check on cooperation between municipalitiesbusiness

This tool can be used to inform adjustments to the municipality's business plan or to engage with stakeholders to create a clearer portfolio of collaborative initiatives aimed at creating climate-neutral cities.

Gather relevant actors from both the municipal organization (administrations and companies) and business to go through the list to see what is already being done in the municipality and is good to continue with, what needs to be refined and what completely new efforts could be made to achieve the mission. The tool is based on the list of examples developed in 2023 by Viable Cities in collaboration with Climate Municipalities and the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions.

The list is divided into (a) general business development, (b) sector development and (c) innovation cooperation. Some actions are interlinked and the tool can be adapted according to conditions and level of ambition.

A model to use when discussing possible interventions is the following, which indicates the different levels at which a municipality can engage in areas that are outside the scope of municipal law and instead constitutes a discussion in terms of ambition for governance.
