New call for accelerated climate change adaptation in cities

Time for Climate Neutral Cities 2030 3.0

Today we open the third call within the initiative Climate Neutral Cities 2030.
- "This call is an important step in our continued mobilization of Swedish cities to become climate neutral and sustainable by 2030," says Olga Kordas, Program Manager Viable Cities.

Today, on March 6, 2024, Viable Cities is launching a call for cities - municipalities and their partners - to accelerate the pace of change and lead the way in the Climate Neutral Cities 2030 3.0 initiative. The call is open until June 5 and funding decisions will be made by the end of the year. To support the consortia that want to apply, a number of meetings with different themes will be held in the spring. A first information session will be held digitally on March 19.

This call means a greater focus on accelerating and scaling up beyond the city's own transition efforts. The call offers two doors into the work. One door is open to new pioneer cities, and the other is open to the cities already working within the Climate Neutral Cities 2030 initiative. A central part of the initiative is to accelerate learning between cities. A new feature is that scaling up can be done by collaborating with one or more other cities, twin cities.

- To change at the pace and scale required, both in Sweden and worldwide, we need sharp pioneers who together develop methods, tools and ways of working that can be spread and scaled up," says Olga Kordas.
