European Viable Cities Day 2021

Climate City Contract 2030 is revised every year, evolving and sharpening every year to accelerate the transition to climate-neutral, sustainable cities. The first version was signed in December 2020 by nine cities, four government agencies and the Viable Cities program.

On December 8, 2021, during the solemn event European Viable Cities Day 2021, the second version of Climate City Contract 2030 was signed by the nine cities in wave 1 of the Climate Neutral Cities 2030 initiative, together with the current government agencies and Viable Cities. The 14 cities that have been added to this initiative since October 1, 2021 signed a letter of intent on December 8, 2021 and then signed Climate City Contract 2030 version 2022.

European Viable Cities Day 2021 was organized by Viable Cities together with the Swedish Representation of the European Commission.

We hope that the documents below will be useful for all individuals and organizations actively involved in accelerating the transformation of cities.

We see Climate City Contract 2030 as a step-by-step tool to help build movement and capacity for change, at local, national and international levels.
