Meet the finalists of the Climate Smart Cities Challenge

On January 20, Viable Cities, UN-Habitat and Sweden will announce the finalists of the Climate Smart Cities Challenge. This will kick-start a global journey towards system demonstration for climate-neutral and sustainable cities.

Don't miss the chance to meet the Climate Smart Cities Challenge finalists for the first time. The finalists and their projects represent a diverse and inspiring range of innovative technological solutions to reduce climate impact in Bogotá, Colombia; Bristol, UK; Curitiba, Brazil; and Makindye Ssabagabo, Uganda. This event marks the start of a journey towards new pathways and opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while contributing to other societal benefits.

What does it take to create climate neutral and smart cities? Thomas Osdoba, NetZeroCities EU and Senior Cities Advisor for Climate-KIC

The role of global companies in the transition to climate neutral and smart cities. Representatives from Scania and ABB will present how global companies can support the transition to climate neutral and smart cities, followed by a discussion on how to engage with small businesses with new business models.

Together for system demonstration. Joost Beunderman, Director, Dark Matter Labs gives an overview of the journey ahead and presents concrete examples of system demonstration.
Madelen Strömberg, Business Sweden and Tommy Mikelsen, SEK, reflect on what this means for future investments.
The four cities give a glimpse of their plans.

The finalists are presented. Kathy Nothstine, Head of Future Cities at Nesta Challenges describes the challenge process and introduces all the finalists. Stina Lantz from Ignite Sweden presents how they will become a team.
