Climate Breakfast #45 Carbon storage for climate-neutral cities

In Sweden, 48 cities, representing 50% of the country's population, are currently mobilizing for climate-neutral cities by 2030. In addition to direct emission reductions, carbon storage and other complementary and compensatory measures can contribute to reducing climate impact. Carbon storage involves, among other things, strengthening and maintaining natural carbon sinks. An important area is carbon sinks in the soil, which can also improve soil health. During this climate breakfast, you will learn more about how actors in a municipality, not least the agricultural industry, can work together for sustainable land use in the long term.

The discussion will focus on the role of carbon maps in strategic work: What is a carbon map? How can it serve as a basis for strategic work on carbon storage, land use, and soil improvement? What opportunities and challenges are there with the carbon maps that can be produced today?

Participants
Fredrik Seger, Sustainability Developer, Höganäs Municipality
Josefine Bolander, Land Manager, Eskilstuna Municipality
Astrid Stenholm, Platform Manager, Swedish Coal Storage
