What you can expect:

Focus on scaling up
Phase 3 of Viable Cities is underway, with the decision on our latest call for proposals, Climate Neutral Cities 2030 3.0, planned for November. In the next phase of the program, we will scale up and more cities will become part of the initiative.

Panel discussion with key actors in the climate transition
During the live event, there will be panel discussions with key actors in the climate transition, such as the European Commission, Directors General of the government agencies signatories to Climate City Contract 2030, municipal council chairs of Swedish cities, as well as national and international key actors.

The signing ceremony of Climate City Contract 2030
The first Swedish contracts were signed in 2020 by nine municipal councils and directors general from four government agencies. Since then, the Swedish climate work has inspired the European level where 112 cities have joined the mission of climate neutral cities by 2030. This year, 2024, more European versions of the Climate City Contract have been signed and Viable Cities continues to mobilize together with a growing number of Swedish cities and six government agencies. On 6 December 2024, 23 Swedish cities and six government agencies will sign a revised and more ambitious Climate City Contract 2030. The movement to accelerate the climate transition and pave the way for many others is scaling up.
